DIY NO MORE: LEARN HOW THE IVETMATE™ IV FLUID WARMER SERVES AS AN EASY-TO-USE AND ESSENTIAL SURGERY TOOL

Your practice can now smooth out your surgical procedures with a fluid warmer that provides accurate fluid temperatures at multiple distances and flow rates for your patients.

In “6 savvy tips for the surgical suite,” written by Sarah Mouton Dowdy on dvm360.com, Dr. Jennifer Wardlaw, DVM, MS, DACVS-SA, of Gateway Veterinary Surgery in St. Louis, Missouri, shares a handful of her must-have solutions while performing surgery.

Here are the surgical pillars she abides by after 15 years of veterinary surgery experience:

A headlamp (built for spelunkers and climbers, but performing surgery is quite the journey too!)

  •  Comfortable footwear that can be sterilized in an autoclave (and reduce foot strain after long hours of standing during procedures)
  •  Multiple heating elements (because one is just not enough)

In particular, the article highlights how Dr. Wardlaw stresses the importance of keeping her patients warm throughout the length of a surgery:

“One heating option during surgery isn't adequate [...] After the pet has been in surgery for 20 or 30 minutes, you're less likely to bring their temperature back up as it comes down with just one thing. You need to start adding two or three heating elements proactively with small, young and thin patients and for longer surgeries.”

Dr. Wardlaw goes on to share the creative DIY solutions she uses to bring the heat and maintain it during even the most lengthy surgical procedures. She uses hot water bottles, hot water in IV bags, and tube socks filled with lentils warmed in a microwave.

Luckily, there’s now a better way to keep your fluids warm than using a microwave (although, that sock trick is ingenious!). The IVETMATE™ IV Fluid Warmer is a dry-heat device that is designed to safely warm fluids through heating plate technology.

The IVETMATE™ IV Fluid Warmer also:

  • Provides accurate fluid temperatures at multiple distances and flow rates
  • Easily hangs on an IV pole or cage
  • Consists of a slim design and rubber feet allow the unit to lay flat
  • Features strong magnets hold the device door closed
  • Comes with a 10-ft. locking power cord

… making it a must-have item on your list of surgery solutions.

TESTIMONIALS

"I also wanted to heap praise on your repair techs. It's nice to get repairs that stay repaired after 6 months. I have stuff that was repaired 3 years ago that has never given me problems again. Other places just seem to patch it together and then it breaks again as soon as the warranty is up. Between horses enjoying knocking over IV poles, and dogs who enjoy chewing on things, our equipment is sometimes in pretty bad shape. Your techs take the time to check and fix all of the parts that might be damaged from this type of treatment, and I and the animals here appreciate it."

"My technicians really like your fluid warmer and feel that it keeps the patients a few degrees warmer versus not using it. After we trialed it they were begging for more fluid warmers so it must work."
